What does a “better board” look like and what practices were implemented in order to get there? Join the Nonprofit Center on October 18 as we bring the renowned “Governance Gladiator," Vernetta Walker, JD, to the Northeast Florida nonprofit community and learn how to create Better Boards. This day-long program kicks off with data and insights on board engagement, strategy, and policy considerations while the afternoon dives into being intentional about DEI best practices and how that impacts the work of the board.

This workshop is a great way to orient a new Board member or revive your current Board. It is appropriate for all nonprofit organizations’ CEOs/EDs, key staff, and Board members. We recommend attending this workshop with a team of staff and Board members.

About the presenter:
Vernetta Walker, JD is president and CEO of Walker & Associates Consulting. Vernetta is also a senior governance consultant and senior advisor on diversity, inclusion, and equity for BoardSource. With over two decades of experience as a nonprofit leader and consultant, Vernetta is passionate about helping organizations maximize their impact through exceptional leadership, intellectual engagement, and cultural competence. In addition to providing consulting and training, she is a frequent speaker on nonprofit leading practices, sector trends, and creating a culture of inclusion.

Nonprofit Center Members:

• $75 per person
• $60 per person for groups of three or more from the same organization

• $150 per person
• $125 per person for groups of 3 or more from the same organization, including Board Members

Fees include a light breakfast, lunch, worksheets and program materials, parking, beverages, and afternoon snacks.

If you find that you are unable to attend this event after you have registered, please notify the Nonprofit Center as soon as possible. Please note that we cannot refund fees for cancellations made less than ten days in advance. If you cancel your registration less than ten days before the event, your organization will still be invoiced for the full amount of the event.
